Ivano Frankivsk National Medical University, Ukraine

Campus Building
Myself Himanshu, a 2nd-year student of Ivano Frankivsk National Medical University (IFNMU). I’m studying General Medicine here in the city of Ivano Frankivsk, Ukraine. Basically, I am from Lucknow, UP. After completing my school I wanted to become a doctor. As I was interested in MBBS I decided to crack the NEET Exam like most of us do. I got just 35% marks in 2 attempts. And, yes! It was not enough to take any private or government college in India. I was stressed for my career and it is too expensive to study in India for any middle-class family. Also, the chance of getting a government medical college is very very rare. Then, my elder brother suggested me to study MBBS from abroad. I considered a lot of countries before finally choosing Ukraine.

This University, IFNMU, was founded in the year 1945. It is absolutely affordable for any middle-class student who is planning to study MBBS Abroad. The quality of professors and education is good here. All the teachers are very approachable for help after class. The medium of instruction of lectures, books and exams is English for all 6 years. IFNMU is approved not just by MCI but also by WHO, USMLE and UK-PLAB. There are currently more than 400 Indian students studying here. The hostels at the University are very good and there are 3 canteens that provide Indian food. You can also cook your own food if you like to.

This country and our city especially is extremely safe and secure for girls too. The local people are very friendly and most of them understand English. So if you are planning to study medicine abroad, then come to Ukraine as there are many Indian students here who will be glad to help you settle. The Ukrainian language isn’t difficult to learn at all, I learnt it in around 8 months. Although it's not a compulsion to learn the local language, it definitely helps in the day-to-day life if you know it.

Himanshu
The winter starts from November till February with regular snowfall. But it is nothing to be afraid about as with proper winter jackets and boots you don’t feel so cold. Plus, the heating infrastructure is very good in the city as well as the university. The buses, hostels, campus building, malls, etc. all are centrally heated. There are proper malls, movie theatres and medical stores to full fill all your needs. You can without doubt choose my University as your studying partner. I’m waiting to see you soon! Good Luck!
