Northern State Medical University | Russia

Aerial View of City
Hi Guys! I am Prathmesh from Indore, India. I am a third-year student of Northern State Medical University, Arkhangelsk, Russia. Arkhangelsk is one of the bigger cities in Russia. I appeared for NEET exam 2 times but hard luck struck, unfortunately, I did not get government medical college in India and private medical colleges in India was not my interest because they are not economical and charge lots of donation. Then I thought of MBBS abroad, I attended many seminars regarding that. My brother was also studying in NSMU and he asked me to come here but still, I wanted to attend seminars and wanted to search for the best university. I found that NSMU is one of the colleges which is recommended by many agencies.

Northern State Medical University was founded on 16th December 1932. Earlier the name of the university was Arkhangelsk State Medical University, later it was named Northern State Medical University. 5 years 8 months is the duration of study here in NSMU. Around 1100 Indian students are studying MBBS in NSMU from 1st to 6th year. Quality of education is high, English is the main key because the full course is in the English language. All teachers speak good English. Students get to learn the Russian language to communicate with the local people. Russians treat Indians very well. No kind of racism is experienced here by the students. NSMU is accredited by MCI and WHO.

University has 3 buildings, each building has different departments and subjects of Study. University has 5 big hostels for students. In the hostel, there are twin sharing or triple sharing rooms for students. University provides Indian Mess for 1st-year students and after that students can make their own food.  There are kitchens on each floor of the hostel so that students can prepare their own food. Washing Machines are also installed in hostels for students convenience. No kind of ragging is tolerated in NSMU. Hostels are under 24 hours CCTV surveillance.
Classroom Fun

About Banking System- Students can open a savings account in Russian banks. Students need to take an International Debit Card from any bank of India, they can transact money from Indian ATM card and they get Russian currency i.e. rubles. Bank charges some money on the transaction, but Indian currency and Russian currency have around equal values. I will surely recommend students to take admission in NSMU because NSMU is rated under top 10 medical universities of Russia. Teachers pay attention to students and university is the best.

University also promotes Sports. Students can play whatever sport they want to play. Every year in the month of May, the University organizes Cricket tournament for students. University has a volleyball court, basketball court, futsal court. Students can play football in the summer season on the ground which is made of turf. All Indian festivals are celebrated by the students. Diwali and Kerela Piravi are the main festivals which are celebrated. Faculty Day is organized by students for all the teachers of faculty. Students need to adapt to climate because the college is in the north region. Winter last till March end. In the month of January, February and March temperature varies from 0 degrees to -25 degrees. Students can go to college by bus or taxi. Students can also walk along the streets. Every kind of grocery is available in stores except for Indian spices. That students have to bring from India.
